GALLOWAY, N.J. (Dec. 7, 2016) – The Stockton University men's basketball team went on a 13-point run from the end of the first half through the first field goal of the second half and went on to post a 69-55 victory over Rutgers University-Camden in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Wednesday night.
Stockton improves to 3-3 overall and 1-3 in the NJAC, snapping a two-game losing streak. Rutgers-Camden falls to 0-5 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
Rutgers-Camden has lost 17 straight games against Stockton and 63 of its last 64, with the lone win in that span coming in Camden on Feb. 13, 2008 by an 87-74 score. The Ospreys lead the all-time series, 71-8.
Leading, 28-24, the Ospreys closed out the first half with 11 straight points, bookended by three-pointers from senior guard
Tom Catanoso (Cape May Courthouse, NJ/Middle Township). The Ospreys' run extended to 13 points when junior forward
Marcus Harmon (Whitesboro, NJ/Middle Township) hit the opening field goal of the second half, giving Stockton a 41-24 lead.
The host team scored the first five points of the game before Rutgers-Camden surged back to grab a 10-9 lead on a three-pointer by senior guard
Julian Diaz-Smitherman (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken). After the Ospreys scored the next seven points to grab a 16-10 advantage, the Scarlet Raptors fought back, taking their last lead of the game, 20-18, on a layup by senior guard

Stockton scored the next nine points and after a 4-1 Raptor run, closed out the half with its 11-point run. Harmon had 10 points in the opening half for the Ospreys, who placed eight players in the scoring column in the opening 20 minutes. Rutgers-Camden received 11 first-half points from junior guard
Charlie Riccardi (Mullica Hill, NJ/St. Joseph-Hammonton).
Harmon finished with 20 points for the Ospreys, while Catanoso and junior guard
Khaliq Ford (Millville, NJ/Millville) both added 10. Harmon completed a double-double with 12 rebounds, tying the Scarlet Raptors' Martin for game-high honors.
Martin's 12 boards were a career high, passing the seven he had on four previous occasions. He completed his first Rutgers-Camden double-double with 15 points and had a game- and career-high six assists. His previous high in assists was five, accomplished five times.
Riccardi also set a career high while leading the Scarlet Raptors with 16 points, aided by 4-for-9 shooting from three-point range. His previous high of 15 points came against Montclair State University Jan. 9, 2016.
Diaz-Smitherman also notched his Rutgers-Camden career high with 11 points, two more than he scored Saturday at New Jersey City University. He added six rebounds for another career high. His previous high of four boards was reached twice, most recently against Stockton on Feb. 3, 2016.
The Ospreys only shot 37.5 percent from the floor (24-for-64), but they held the Scarlet Raptors to 29.5 percent shooting (18-for-61). Stockton held a 46-44 edge off the boards.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Saturday with a 2 p.m. non-conference game at Bryn Athyn College.
