The Raptors won the opener, 5-0, while the Scarlet Raiders took the nightcap, 2-1, with all runs being scored in the eighth inning.

Taylor Nichols, left, and Kacie Pisani are greeted by Jalene Garcia after
scoring on Brittany Scott's two-run fifth inning singleScott was in charge in the opener as she barely missed throwing her second perfect game of the season. The only Newark baserunner came with one out in the third inning when freshman rightfielder
Melissa Chaquea (Linden, NJ/Linden) was hit by a pitch. Scott didn't walk a batter and struck out eight.
Earlier this season, Scott (7-4) tossed a five-inning perfect game in a 17-0 win over Southern Vermont College March 15. Scott now owns three no-hitters at Rutgers-Camden, including her perfect game. Her first came against John Jay College of Criminal Justice on March 11, 2014. Her gem was the 24th no-hitter in Rutgers-Camden history.
The Scarlet Raptors gave Scott all the support she needed in the third inning when junior rightfielder
Megan Goodspeed (Florence, NJ/Florence) reached on a one-out walk and was sacrificed to second by freshman leftfielder
Kacie Pisani (Barrington, NJ/Haddon Heights). Sophomore second baseman
Taylor Nichols (Barrington, NJ/Haddon Heights) stroked an RBI single and eventually scored on an error.
Scott helped her own cause with a two-run single in the fifth inning, and later scored on an error. Her single plated Pisani and Nichols, who had reached on singles and stolen a base.
Nichols went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI to lead the Raptors' five-hit attack.
Rutgers-Newark 2, Rutgers-Camden 1 (8 innings)
The second game remained scoreless into the eighth inning when the Scarlet Raiders finally broke through on two hits, an intentional walk, a run-scoring double play and an RBI single from freshman catcher
Samantha Hoffman (Metuchen, NJ/Metuchen). Rutgers-Camden rallied in the bottom of the eighth, sparked by a one-out double from Scott, giving her an 18-game hitting streak to open the season. The 18-game streak broke the program record of 17, set by Celeste Chinappi in 2003.
Scott scored on a two-out single by freshman catcher
Charlee Greco (Shamong, NJ/Seneca), but the Raptors left the tying run on base.
Greco went 3-for-4 in the game, while senior third baseman
Katie Larson (Delran, NJ/Delran) was 2-for-4. For Newark, sophomore centerfielder
Elizabeth Marflak (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) went 3-for-4 and Hoffman was 2-for-4.
