GALLOWAY, New Jersey (Oct. 31, 2017) – The #3 seeded Stockton University Ospreys advanced to the semifinals of the
New Jersey Athletic Conference volleyball championship with a 3-0 sweep over the #6 seeded Rutgers University-Camden Scarlet Raptors here in Galloway tonight. The set scores were 25-15, 25-18, 25-17 in favor of the Ospreys.
Stockton broke the first set open with a 10-3 run that the Scarlet Raptors would not be able to catch. The Ospreys led 13-6 and stayed in front by at least five on the way to the 25-15 win.
Rutgers-Camden had hopes of a comeback in the third set when they were trailing Stockton 11-12 midway through the set. Stockton created some cushion with a 5-1 run that made it 17-12 and later closed out the match by scoring 7 of the last 10 points.
Senior
Cortnee Wilkerson (Los Angeles, CA, West Adams Prep) led the Scarlet Raptors with a match-high 14 kills, as she added 6 digs to her name. Sophomore
Natalie DiGiacomo (Williamstown, NJ, Williamstown) led all players in the match with 15 digs, while sophomore
Caitlynn Marcano (Williamstown, NJ, Williamstown) and freshman
Alyson Lowe (Havertown, PA, Haverford) dished 14 assists apiece. Sophomore
Jamie Mulligan (New Gretna, NJ, Pinelands Regional) contributed 8 kills to the Scarlet Raptors' attack, as sophomore
Jordan Erskine (Barnegat, NJ, Barnegat) added 5.
Rutgers-Camden (16-16) will await announcement of the field for the
2017 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's Volleyball Championship, which will take place on Monday, Nov. 6
th. First round action begins on Wednesday, Nov. 8
