AUBURNDALE, Fla. (March 15, 2018) – The Anderson University baseball team took advantage of 10 hits, 10 walks, two Rutgers-Camden errors and one hit batsman as it outlasted the Scarlet Raptors, 10-8, in a three-hour slugfest here Thursday at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.
The Ravens, based in Anderson, Indiana, even their record at 9-9, while the Scarlet Raptors fall to 4-4.
Rutgers-Camden held a 4-2 lead entering the bottom of the fourth inning before the Ravens converted five hits – four of them doubles – two walks and a hit batsman into five runs. The biggest hit was a two-run double by sophomore second baseman Thomas Parker.
The Scarlet Raptors bounced right back with three runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 7-7. Sophomore catcher

Chris Jones (Washington Township, NJ/Bishop Eustace Prep) was hit by a pitch. Both scored ahead of a two-out home run to left field by sophomore shortstop
Nolan Gerold (Merchantville, NJ/Camden Catholic). The three-run shot was Gerold's first home run of the season and the third overall for the Scarlet Raptors.
Anderson bounced back with a three-spot of its own in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead for good. The Ravens loaded the bases on walks, sandwiched around the first out. The go-ahead run scored on a throwing error and senior shortstop Nick Butcher added a two-run single. Butcher and sophomore third baseman Jonathan Willoughby both went 3-for-5 with three RBIs for Anderson, with Butcher adding one run scored.
Rutgers-Camden collected 11 hits in the game, including two apiece by a trio of players. Freshman center fielder
Billy Eisler (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic) went 2-for-3 with a walk, one run and two RBIs. Travis went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI while stretching his season-opening hitting streak to eight games, the only player on the team to hit safely in all eight games this season. R.J. Concepcion (Audubon, NJ/Audubon) went 2-for-5 with one RBI.
Senior righty
Peter Han (Millburn, NJ/Millburn), the last of four Rutgers-Camden pitchers, closed out the game with an impressive performance. In 2-2/3 innings, he allowed only one hit, two walks and one unearned run, while striking out six Ravens.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action with two games Friday at the RussMatt event. They face Knox College (Galesburg, Illinois) at 9:45 a.m. and battle Eastern Connecticut State University in a 1:15 p.m. contest.
