Scarlet Raptor men earn NJAC soccer win at NJCU

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (Oct. 5, 2019) – The Rutgers University-Camden men's soccer team scored a pair of first-half goals and went on to defeat New Jersey City University, 2-0, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Saturday afternoon.

The Scarlet Raptors improve to 9-3-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the NJAC, while stretching their undefeated string against NJCU to 13-0-4 since their last loss to the Gothic Knights in 2005.

NJCU falls to 9-4 overall and 0-4 in conference play with its fourth straight loss.

Junior forward Skyler Diggs put the Scarlet Raptors on the scoreboard at 29:11 with a low shot to the left side of the net for his team-leading ninth goal this season. Diggs, who collected the 10th game-winning goal of his career, was assisted by senior midfielder Chris Taraska.

The Scarlet Raptors struck again only 46 seconds before halftime when sophomore midfielder Liam Craver collected his second career goal, and first of the season, heading in a high shot to the right side of the net off a restart by freshman forward Bryan Andrade. The assist was Andrade's first career point.

Rutgers-Camden freshman Juan Bahena made his collegiate debut in goal and notched his first career shutout with five saves. NJCU junior Aladahir Cazun also made five saves.
