GLENSIDE, Penn. (Nov. 9, 2019) – The Rutgers University-Camden men's basketball team forced overtime on a game-tying three-pointer by junior guard
Tory Whiting with two seconds left in regulation, but Arcadia University outlasted the Scarlet Raptors in the extra session to escape with a 71-68 victory in the opening game of the season at the Arcadia Tip-Off Tournament here Saturday.
In Saturday's other first-round game, Salisbury University raced past Rosemont College, 106-68. In Sunday's consolation game, Rutgers-Camden will face Rosemont at 1 p.m., followed by Arcadia against Salisbury at 3 p.m.
In a close game all the way, the Knights took a 59-56 lead with 18 seconds left in regulation on a foul shot by junior guard Da'Kquan Davis. With two seconds remaining, Whiting drained a three-pointer to tie the contest and send it into overtime.

Once again, Rutgers-Camden surged into the lead, 64-62, on a jumper by junior guard
Arian Azemi, but the host team scored the next seven points – three by Pendleton – to take the lead for good. A free throw by senior center
Roy Bond and a trey by Azemi sliced the gap to 69-68 with 14 seconds remaining, but Davis hit a pair of foul shots down the stretch to account for the final margin. The Scarlet Raptors missed a last-ditch attempt to hit a game-tying three-pointer.
Rutgers-Camden, which features 10 newcomers on its 15-man roster, received 19 points, five assists and six steals from Azemi in his first game as a Scarlet Raptor. Senior forward
Isaac Destin, playing the final season of his brilliant four-year Raptor career, notched 15 points.
Another returning player, Bond, collected a double-double on his way to three career highs, notching 14 points and game-high totals of 15 rebounds and two blocked shots.
Simmons added 12 points in his first game with the Scarlet Raptors.
Pendleton collected a game-high 21 points for Arcadia, while Davis notched 19. Walsh had a team-high 11 rebounds.
Rutgers-Camden shot 24-for-66 (36.4 percent) from the floor, while Arcadia went 21-for-53 (39.6). The Knights also shot 23-for-37 (62.2) from the foul line, while the Scarlet Raptors were 16-for-25 (64.0). Arcadia held a 45-40 edge off the boards.
