ROXBURY CROSSING, Mass. (March 8, 2019) – Senior
Cameron Dobbins broke his own program record in the 60-meter dash and had another outstanding run in the 200-meter dash, earning a trip to Saturday's finals as he competed in the preliminaries Friday at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The two-day event was held at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.
In the middle of the afternoon, Dobbins broke his own mark in the 60-meter dash, but finished 13th of 21 in the event, missing the cut for Saturday's finals. He was clocked at 6.904, breaking his old mark of 6.92 set on Jan. 19, 2018 at the NYC Gotham Cup. His previous top time this season was a 6.93, accomplished while winning the New Jersey Athletic Conference championship on Feb. 18.
Friday night, Dobbins looked like he came tantalizingly close to the finals when he placed ninth of 20 in the 200-meter dash, running his second-best time of the season at 21.93. After a protest, one runner was disqualified for running out of his lane and Dobbins grabbed eighth place and the last spot in Saturday's 200-meter final.
