CAMDEN, N.J. (April 18, 2019) – The Rutgers University-Camden lacrosse team scored four of the first five goals in its New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Thursday afternoon, but Stockton University roared back with the next 11 as the Ospreys defeated the Scarlet Raptors, 25-8.
Stockton's onslaught produced the second-highest goal total the Scarlet Raptors have allowed in their program history. The most came in a 27-14 defeat against Bryn Mawr College in 2011.
The Ospreys, who improve to 9-4 overall and 2-2 in the NJAC, launched 51 shots against Raptor sophomore goalie
Brittany Watson, one more than the previous goalie record for shots faced that she set on March 30 in a game at Manhattanville. Watson finished with 16 saves, giving her 138 for the season to set a new program single-season record. She had been tied with Alexa Rocks (2015) at 122 saves for the season mark. Watson's 16 saves increased her career mark to 251, vaulting past Rocks (238) into second place on the program's all-time list.
Rutgers-Camden scored four goals in the opening 6:17, including two by senior
Cara Racobaldo and one apiece by freshmen
Claire Gailliout and
Carly Gregg. That gave the Scarlet Raptors a 4-1 lead before Stockton stormed back with three goals, two by freshman Casey Shultz, over the next 4:43, tying the game at 4-4 with 11 minutes gone in the contest.
The Ospreys' goal barrage kept on coming as sophomore Alexis Limongello scored 46 seconds later to put Stockton ahead to stay. The Ospreys eventually built a 12-4 lead before two goals by Gailliout ended the run and cut the Raptors' deficit to 12-6. It was 13-7 at halftime and, after Gregg scored the first goal of the second half, Stockton finished the game with the next 12 goals.
Seven Stockton players scored two or more goals, led by Schultz, who tallied six times for six points. Gaby Ojeda had three goals and four ground balls, while Michelle Pascrell notched four points on two goals and two assists.
Gailliout and Racobaldo paced the Scarlet Raptors with three goals apiece, while Gregg added two. Gailliout and sophomore
Demi Albertini had the lone Raptor assists.
Gregg, Gailliout and freshman
Jazmin Torres each collected three ground balls and three draw controls to lead Rutgers-Camden. Gailliout,

Kacie Walton had two caused turnovers apiece.
Stockton senior goalie Brookie Hallett made seven saves to earn the win.
