Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Misericordia's OT goal tops Rutgers-Camden men, 1-0

CAMDEN, N.J. (Sept. 14, 2019) – The Rutgers University-Camden men's soccer team spent a lot of time threatening the Misericordia University defense here Saturday afternoon, but the Scarlet Raptors had nothing to show for their efforts.

The Cougars' defense, led by sophomore goalie Andrew Daubenspeck, kept Rutgers-Camden off the scoreboard and senior back Levi Roberts provided the finishing touch. Roberts ripped a restart into the upper left corner of the net with 5:09 gone in the first overtime as the Cougars stunned the Scarlet Raptors, 1-0, in a non-conference game.

Misericordia evens its record at 2-2-2, while Rutgers-Camden falls to 5-2.

The Scarlet Raptors, who had received votes with 40 points toward the D3soccer.com Top 25 poll earlier this week, outshot the Cougars, 14-8, and held an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks. Yet it was the only shot in overtime, set up by a foul outside the top of the box, that led to the decisive goal. Roberts hit a perfect shot into the top left corner, giving Raptor senior keeper Kyler White no chance for a save. It was the second goal of the season for Roberts.

White finished with four saves for the Scarlet Raptors, while Daubenspeck earned the shutout with seven saves.

Rutgers-Camden returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Immaculata University at 7 p.m.
