COLLEGEVILLE, Penn. (Dec. 10, 2021) – The Rutgers University-Camden indoor track program turned in several strong performances in its second meet of the season here Friday.
It was the season debut for
Emily Hilt, however, and the senior picked up right where she left off in the spring season, when she earned three All-New Jersey Athletic Conference honors in outdoor track. Hilt finished first out of 26 athletes with a shot put of 12.85 meters as the Scarlet Raptors competed at Ursinus College's Bow-Tie Invitational. Her winning throw was more than one meter farther than the runner-up shot put of 11.58 meters.
The Raptors also had another outstanding performance by thrower
Alexis Marini, a sophomore academically who has freshman eligibility for indoor track. Marini, who opened her winter competition with a fine showing at the Fastrack Season Opener Dec. 3, finished 10th in the shot put (9.81 meters) and was fourth out of 15 athletes in the weight throw (11.50 meters).
The Scarlet Raptor women also had a pair of athletes compete in both the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. Freshman
Evelyn Macias finished 14th of 29 at 60 meters (8.69) and 15th of 38 at 200 meters (29.09), while sophomore
Lizette Abah was 20th at 60 meters (9.15) and 28th at 200 meters (31.96). Two other Raptor freshmen competed in the 60-meter dash, with
Francis Hill placing 18th and
Bree Smith finishing 19th, both listed with a 9.10 clocking.
In the women's mile run, senior
Kirstin Slater finished 10th of 22 athletes (6:01.08) and freshman
Rebecca Savidge finishing 21st (7:14.10).
On the men's side, juniors
David Morrow and
Andrew Barnhardt competed in both the 800-meter run and the mile. Morrow finished eighth of 22 at 800 meters (2:15.51) and Barnhardt placed 15th (2:20.96). In the mile, Morrow was 10th of 20 (5:03.67) and Barnhardt was 12th (5:06.89). Senior
