CAMDEN, NJ (May 1, 2021) – Rutgers University-Camden only needed four victories on the court, coupled with a NCAA-mandated forfeit for a fifth win, to defeat short-handed New Jersey City University in the quarterfinals of the New Jersey Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Tournament here Saturday.
With the sixth singles and third doubles unplayable due to only five players available for the sixth-seeded Gothic Knights, Rutgers-Camden won third doubles by forfeit and ended up posting a 5-1 victory. The Scarlet Raptors had two more players leading their singles matches when the match was decided.
Rutgers-Camden, the tournament's third seed, advances to the NJAC semifinals, where it will play Wednesday at second-seeded Stockton University, beginning at 4 p.m. Stockton defeated Rutgers-Camden, 9-0, in Camden on April 22.

The Scarlet Raptors received doubles victories at first doubles behind junior
Tiffany Trivers and freshman
Samantha Hoban, who posted an 8-1 win. At second doubles, juniors
LeAnne Hall and
Hannah Cohan earned an 8-2 victory, while the team of junior
Erica Steer and sophomore
Alyna Cabrera won third doubles by forfeit.
Trivers was defeated at first singles, 6-0, 6-0, by NJCU sophomore Giada Zorzan, but the Raptors wrapped up the match behind 6-0, 6-0 wins at second and third singles from Hoban and Hall, respectively.
Cabrera was winning her match at fourth singles, 6-0, 4-2, when the overall match was clinched. Cohan was leading her fifth singles match, 6-0, 3-1, at that time.
