CAMDEN, N.J. (Nov. 22, 2022) – The College of New Jersey women's basketball team opened up an 18-point halftime lead and went on to defeat Rutgers University-Camden, 68-44, here Wednesday in the New Jersey Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
TCNJ improves to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the NJAC, while Rutgers-Camden falls to 1-4 and 0-1.
The Lions have won their last 11 games against Rutgers-Camden dating back to the last Scarlet Raptor victory on Jan. 18, 2017.
TCNJ never trailed in the game as it took leads of 17-6 after one quarter and 40-22 at halftime. The Lions' biggest lead came in the last moments of the game when they were up by 26 points at 68-42.
Senior guard Julia Setaro notched 15 points to pace the Lions, while sophomore guard Nina Branchizio added 11 and senior guard Sydney Blum netted 10. TCNJ placed 12 players in the scoring column and had 10 players dish off assists, led by three from junior guard/forward Kaitlyn Deiter.
The Lions held a 41-28 advantage off the boards, led by five rebounds apiece from junior guard/forward Izzy Leazier, senior forward Morgan Heller and Deiter.
TCNJ shot 31-for-63 (49.2 percent) from the floor, while Rutgers-Camden went 16-for-50 (32.0).

Jalissa Pitts and
Rahzirah Blocker notched 15 and 14 points, respectively, to lead the Scarlet Raptor offense, while junior forward
Carleigh Galasso hauled down a game-high 10 rebounds. Junior guard
Jania Pitts had a game-high three steals.
Rutgers-Camden return to action Monday with a 7 p.m. non-conference game at Alvernia University.
