Run of Raptor goals lifts Rutgers-Camden lacrosse team
DOYLESTOWN, Penn. (March 14, 2022) – The Rutgers University-Camden lacrosse team roared back from a three-goal first-half deficit to score the next 10 goals on the way to a 16-11 non-conference win over Delaware Valley University here Monday.
The victory evens the Scarlet Raptors' record to 2-2, while the Aggies fall to 0-3.
Sophomore attack
Linsey Becker and senior midfielder
Claire Gailliout paced the Scarlet Raptors with six points apiece, with Becker notching four goals and two assists and Gailliout collecting six goals. Senior midfielder
Jazmin Torres and sophomore midfielder
Isabella Tamburrino both added four points, with Torres scoring three goals and adding one assist, while Tamburrino had two goals and two assists.
After Rutgers-Camden scored the first two goals of the game, with one apiece by Gailliout and Becker, the Aggies scored eight of the next 11 goals to grab an 8-5 lead with 5:18 remaining in the half. Sophomore midfielder Ashley Birmingham scored four of those goals.
Rutgers-Camden countered with the last four goals of the half to take a 9-8 lead, receiving tallies from Gailliout, Torres, Becker and Tamburrino. Tamburrino's goal, assisted by Becker with 1:53 remaining in the half, put the Raptors ahead for good, 9-8.

Ciara Butler added the last two goals of the Raptors' run, making it a 15-8 game. The Aggies closed the gap to 15-11 with three straight goals before Gailliout ended the scoring with 30 seconds remaining.
Defensively, senior
Rachel Haigh collected five ground balls for the Scarlet Raptors, while Torres and senior
Jenna Jorgenson had two caused turnovers apiece. Gailliout had six draw controls and Torres added four.
Sophomore goalie
G Bellon made 11 saves for the Raptors and had six ground balls. It was Bellon's fourth consecutive game with double-digit saves.
Birmingham paced the Aggies with four goals, one assist, eight ground balls and six caused turnovers.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Wednesday with a 4 p.m. game at Gwynedd Mercy University.
