CAMDEN, N.J. (April 15, 2022) – With cancellations, postponements and a small roster this season, it has been a demanding year for the Rutgers University-Camden men's tennis team.
Ramapo College added to the Scarlet Raptors' trials here Friday as it defeated Rutgers-Camden, 9-0, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference makeup match.
Rutgers-Camden falls to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the NJAC, while Ramapo improves to 3-4 and 1-2.
The Scarlet Raptors, playing with only four players, were forced to forfeit matches at third doubles and at fifth and sixth singles.
At first singles, sophomore
Andrew Yuen dropped a 6-2, 6-2 decision. At second singles, sophomore
Ken Tuppal lost, 6-0, 6-1, and at third singles, sophomore
Hani Qureshi also lost, 6-0, 6-1. Freshman
Cristian Valdez lost at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles, the team of Yuen and Tuppal lost, 8-4, in the top spot and the combination of Qureshi and Valdez lost at second doubles, 8-1.
The Scarlet Raptors host New Jersey City University Monday at 3:30 p.m. in an NJAC makeup match that was originally scheduled for April 3.
