EWING, N.J. (April 2, 2022) – The Rutgers University-Camden men's tennis team had only three available players for its match against the powerful College of New Jersey Lions here Saturday as both teams opened their New Jersey Athletic Conference schedule.
The Lions earned five wins by default on their way to a 9-0 victory over Rutgers-Camden.
The win lifts TCNJ to 8-1 overall and 1-0 in the NJAC, while Rutgers-Camden falls to 0-3 and 0-1.
The Lions earned default wins at the second and third doubles spots and the fourth through sixth singles positions.
At first doubles, sophomore
Hani Qureshi and freshman
Sean Boen were defeated, 8-0. Qureshi lost at first singles (6-0, 6-0), Boen lost at second singles (6-0, 6-0) and freshman
Cristian Valdez dropped his match at third singles (6-0, 6-0).
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Tuesday for a 4 p.m. non-conference match at Brooklyn College.
