MAHWAH, N.J. (Sept. 28, 2022) – Throughout most of the second half here Wednesday, the Rutgers University-Camden men's soccer team spent its time valiantly defending its goal.
Fortunately for the Raptors, they scored one first-half goal and that was all that mattered as they hung on to defeat Ramapo College, 1-0, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game.
Rutgers-Camden evens its overall record at 5-5-2 and hikes its NJAC mark to 2-0. Ramapo falls to 1-5-1 and 1-1.

Tommy Monaghan scored the lone goal of the first half in the 32nd minute, assisted by senior
Raimondo Partito, who played another strong game in the back. Monaghan's goal, his third of the season, came at 31:56.
Ramapo held a 6-5 edge in shots in the opening half, although both teams had three shots on goal. The Roadrunners held an 8-2 advantage in first-half corner kicks.
The second half was spent mostly on the Raptors' defensive side of the field as Ramapo outshot Rutgers-Camden, 22-3, and held an 8-1 margin in corner kicks. The Scarlet Raptor defense and sophomore goalie
Sean Boen were equal to the task, with Boen having a stellar game in the net and making 14 saves to earn the shutout. He made 111 saves in the second half.
The Raptors also benefitted from a key backsave late in the game when a shot by senior midfielder Dorant Bokshi was cleared near the goal line.
Ramapo finished with a 28-8 advantage in shots and a 16-3 margin in corner kicks.
Ramapo sophomore keeper Nikolai Matthews finished with four saves.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Saturday with a 1 p.m. NJAC game at New Jersey City University.
