TOWSON, MD. (Oct. 8, 2023) – With various rainouts and cancellations, the Rutgers University-Camden women's tennis team hadn't played intercollegiate competition since September 22 when it competed in the Goucher Invitational Sunday in Towson, Maryland.

All six of the Scarlet Raptor players competed in the event, with freshmen Alyssa Peacock and Nicoletta Troilo being the lone players to play in the doubles matches. Competing in the B flight, they dropped their three matches against players from Stockton (0-4, 1-4), Stevenson (2-4, 0-4) and Lebanon Valley (1-4, 1-4).

Sophomore Katie Moore played only two matches, dropping decisions in the A flight singles against Stockton (0-4, 0-4) and Sweet Briar (0-4, 0-4).

In the B flight singles, sophomore Ashton Sirko went 1-2, losing against Dickinson (0-4, 0-4) and Goucher (0-4, 1-4) before beating a player from Stevenson (3-4, 4-1, 10-1).

In the C flight singles, freshman Bella Martinez also posted a 1-2 record. She lost matches against athletes from Sweet Briar (1-4, 0-4) and Dickinson (1-4, 0-4) before posting a win over Stevenson by scores of 4-3 (7-3) and 4-2.

The Scarlet Raptors' most successful player in the invitational was sophomore Jayde Sue Silva in the D flight singles competition. After losing a tough match against a player from Gettysburg (4-2, 1-4, 6-10), she beat a pair of athletes from Stevenson by scores of 4-1, 4-1 and 4-1, 4-0.
