Katie Moore and
Ashton Sirko both won their singles matches and combined for an 8-1 win at first doubles as the Scarlet Raptors opened their spring season with a 6-3 win over Eastern University here Friday.
Rutgers-Camden, which was only able to play two matches during a rainy fall season, improves to 2-1 for the 2023-24 scholastic year. Eastern falls to 3-4.
Moore earned a 6-4, 6-1 win at first singles, while Sirko captured a 6-1, 6-3 victory at second singles.

Jayde Sue Silva captured her singles match at the fourth spot, 6-1, 6-2, and combined with freshman
Bella Martinez for an 8-3 win at third doubles. Freshman
Alyssa Peacock added a win at fifth singles, 8-6.

Nicoletta Troilo lost an 8-1 decision at second doubles, while Martinez lost tight match at third singles, 7-5, 2-6, 5-10. Troilo also dropped a tight singles match at the sixth spot, 6-4, 2-6, 3-6.
The Scarlet Raptors' scheduled Saturday match at Bryn Athyn College has been postponed due to the storm set to hit the area. Rutgers-Camden will return to action Sunday when it begins its New Jersey Athletic Conference schedule with a 12 p.m. match at The College of New Jersey.
