SWARTHMORE, Penn. (Dec. 30, 2023) – The Swarthmore College women's basketball team went on a 16-point first-quarter run and went on to defeat Rutgers University-Camden, 68-48, in a non-conference game here Saturday.
The loss drops the Scarlet Raptors to 0-12, while the Garnet improve to 5-4.
Rutgers-Camden never led in the game and was even only once, at 3-3, before Swarthmore went on its 16-point run to open up a 19-3 lead. Senior guard/forward Dana Bandurick scored four points to lead that run as the Garnet received offensive contributions from six different players.
The Garnet led, 21-8, at the end of the opening quarter and was up, 35-22, at halftime. Swarthmore led, 52-35, entering the final frame.
Bandurick finished with 16 points for Swarthmore, while sophomore center Anna Hansson added 11. Both players also had double-doubles, with Hanasson grabbing 11 boards and Bandurick adding 10. Bandurick and freshman guard Neve Yair led the Garnet with four assists apiece, while Yair added four steals.

Jania Pitts paced the Scarlet Raptors' offense, tying her career high with 16 points while adding a team-high four steals. Senior guard
Rahzirah Blocker added 14 points, hiking her career total to 895. She also led the team with three assists,
Freshman forward
A'yanna Morton had a team-high nine rebounds for the Scarlet Raptors, one shy of her career high.
Swarthmore shot 28-for-61 (45.9 percent) from the floor, while Rutgers-Camden went 15-for-63 (23.8). The Garnet also held a 51-40 advantage off the boards in the game that saw Swarthmore make 29 turnovers and Rutgers-Camden make 25.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action in the new year with a non-conference home game at 5 p.m. Wednesday against Penn State-Harrisburg. The Scarlet Raptors resume New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Saturday, Jan. 6, when they host Ramapo College at 1 p.m.
