CAMDEN, N.J. (March 31, 2023) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's tennis team posted its first win of the spring semester here Friday as the Scarlet Raptors swept past Bryn Athyn College, 9-0.
Rutgers-Camden, which is 1-1 this semester, is 2-5 overall including the fall semester. Bryn Athyn falls to 1-4.
The Scarlet Raptors jumped off to a great start by winning all three doubles matches. Seniors
Sarah Ahrens and
Laurel DiStefano posted an 8-1 win at first doubles, while junior
Samantha Hoban and freshman
Katie Moore won at second doubles, 8-0. At third doubles, freshman
Ashton Sirko and junior
Alyna Cabrera combined for an 8-2 win.
Hoban posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory at second singles, while all of the other singles players won their matches, 6-0, 6-0. Ahrens played in the first spot, Moore was in the third flight and DiStefano played fourth singles. Sirko and Cabrera played fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Friday when they play a rescheduled New Jersey Athletic Conference match at New Jersey City University. The 1 p.m. match is a makeup from the originally-scheduled March 25 date, which was rained out.
