Box Score CAMDEN, N.J. (April 2, 2023) – The Rutgers University-Camden men's tennis team received victories from its fifth and sixth singles players, but Neumann University won the rest of the matches here Sunday on its way to a 7-2 non-conference victory.
Rutgers-Camden falls to 0-5 overall during the 2022-23 scholastic year, including 0-2 this spring. Neumann is 2-0.
Sophomore
Sean Boen earned his first collegiate tennis victory with a 6-1, 6-4 win at fifth singles. Boen, an All-New Jersey Athletic Conference goalkeeper during the 2022 men's soccer season, evened his spring semester singles record at 1-1.
The Scarlet Raptors also received a win at sixth singles from junior
Matthew Tepfer, who rallied to win 2-6, 6-3, 7-4.
Junior
Edward McWilliams Jr. dropped a 6-3, 6-4 match at first singles, while freshman
Jojo Nguyen lost at second singles (6-0, 6-3), freshman
Christopher Abacan was defeated at third singles by scores of 7-6 (7-4) and 6-1, and senior
Hani Qureshi lost his fourth singles match (6-1, 6-1).
The Scarlet Raptors lost all three doubles matches, with McWilliams and Boen losing at the top flight (8-1), Nguyen and Abacan teaming up at second doubles with an 8-4 loss and Qureshi and Tepfer losing at third doubles, 8-1.
The Scarlet Raptors were supposed to play a home match against Cairn University Thursday, but the match has been switched to a road match, beginning at 3 p.m.
