CAMDEN, N.J. (April 8, 2023) – The Salisbury University women's tennis team posted straight set wins in all six singles matches after sweeping the doubles competition as it defeated Rutgers University-Camden, 9-0, here Saturday.
The Sea Gulls improve to 10-3, while the Scarlet Raptors fall to 2-7.
In the first doubles match, junior
Sarah Ahrens and senior
Laurel DiStefano lost 8-5, while junior
Samantha Hoban and freshman
Katie Moore lost at second doubles, 8-4. Freshman
Ashton Sirko and junior
Alyna Cabrera lost at third doubles, 8-0.
Hoban, who normally plays second singles, played at the top spot against Salisbury and lost 6-3, 6-2. DiStefano lost at second singles, 6-1, 6-0, while Moore played at third singles and dropped a 6-1, 6-2 match. Sirko lost at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-0 and Cabrera lost at the fifth flight, 6-1, 6-0. Lindsay Hernandez, an all-New Jersey Athletic Conference soccer star who joined the tennis program this spring, made her Raptor tennis debut at sixth singles, dropping a 6-0, 6-0 match.
The Scarlet Raptors host Arcadia University in a 4 p.m. match Monday.
