MEDIA, Penn. (Sept. 17, 2023) – The Rutgers University-Camden men's tennis team opened its season here Sunday, but it was the Penn State-Brandywine Lions that came away with an 8-0 victory.
PSU-Brandywine improved to 2-0.
The Scarlet Raptors lost all three doubles matches, with seniors
Edward McWilliams Jr. and
Mark Weber dropping an 8-0 decision in the top spot, junior
Matthew Tepfer and freshman
John Brady losing, 8-3, at second doubles and sophomore
Christopher Abacan and senior
Tyrone King Jr. dropping an 8-2 decision at the third spot.
McWilliams lost at first singles, 6-1, 6-0, while Weber lost at second singles, 6-0, 6-0. In the third spot, Brady dropped a marathon, losing 2-6, 6-4, 6-10. Tepfer was defeated at fourth singles, 4-6, 3-6 and Abacan lost in the fifth flight, 3-6, 0-6. The sixth singles match went unfinished.
The Rutgers-Camden men host Cairn University on Saturday at 11 a.m.
