CAMDEN, N.J. (April 19, 2024) – The Rutgers University-Camden and SUNY-Oneonta women's tennis teams saw their match come to a premature end with weather conditions, but the Red Dragons had already wrapped up a victory with a 5-1 triumph in the non-conference match here Friday.
Rutgers-Camden falls to 8-7, while Oneonta improves to 10-9.
The Scarlet Raptors' lone victory came at third doubles, where junior
Jayde Sue Silva and freshman
Bella Martinez posted an 8-6 win. At first doubles, sophomores
Katie Moore and
Ashton Sirko were defeated, 8-2, while the second doubles team of freshmen
Alyssa Peacock and
Nicoletta Troilo lost, 8-1.
The teams were only able to complete the top three singles matches, with Moore being defeated at the first spot, 6-3, 6-1, Silva losing at second singles, 6-4, 6-2, and Sirko being defeated at the third flight, 6-2, 6-1.
In partial matches that were never finished, Peacock lost the first set at fourth singles, 6-1, Martinez was leading the first set at the fifth flight, 4-2, and sophomore
Jackie Zuniga Arevalo was trailing, 5-0, in her first set at sixth singles.
The Scarlet Raptors will play their final New Jersey Athletic Conference match of the regular season on Saturday when they host Ramapo College at 12 p.m.
