CAMDEN, N.J. (Sept. 21, 2024) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's tennis team collected a pair of forfeit wins during a match against short-handed Kutztown University, but the Division 2 school managed to edge the Scarlet Raptors, 4-3, in the season opener for the Golden Bears here Saturday.
Although Rutgers-Camden fell to 1-1, the Scarlet Raptors picked up a big win on the court when junior
Bryn Kelleher beat her opponent, 6-1, 6-0, at fourth singles.
Despite forfeiting the third doubles competition to Kelleher and freshman
Emma D'Amico when it didn't have enough players to field a team, Kutztown still managed to collect a point for doubles with wins at the top two spots. The Raptors' junior co-captain

Jilliane Jaugan lost at first doubles, 6-0, while the team of senior
Jayde Sue Silva and junior co-captain
Ashton Sirko dropped a 6-1 decision at second doubles.
Jaugan lost at first singles (6-1, 6-1) and Moore was defeated at second singles (1-0, retired). Silva lost at third singles (6-0, 6-0). Kelleher won her fourth singles match and both Sirko and D'Amico collected forfeit victories at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
The Rutgers-Camden women travel to SUNY-Delhi for a 12 p.m. match Sunday.
