Indoor track team returns to action at St. Thomas Aquinas Spartan Invite

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (Jan. 10, 2025) – Rutgers University-Camden junior Jacob Dinerman finished among the top athletes in both the mile and the 3,000-meter run to lead the Scarlet Raptors indoor track teams at the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartan Invite here Friday.
 
The meet, held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex, was the Scarlet Raptors' first competition since December 7.
 
Dinerman finished eighth of 56 runners in the mile (4:23.1) and 10th of 54 at 3,000 meters (8:42.53).
 
The men's 4x200 team of sophomores Hector Diaz and Robert Bayard and freshmen Kristopher Ewell and Antonio Busbee finished 10th of 17 (1:34.61). Bayard also placed 33rd of 122 in the 60-meter dash (7.20) and 43rd of 107 in the 200-meter dash (23.44), while Diaz was 12th of 33 in the 60-meter hurdles (8.84) and 87th in the 200-meter dash (24.70). Ewell and Busbee ran 22nd and 60th, respectively, out of 88 athletes in the 400-meter dash in times of 51.55 and 54.27.
 
Sophomore Ben Wilson was 52nd of 122 in the 60-meter dash (7.29), while freshman Josiah Saint Elien led the Raptors at 800 meters, placing 16th of 49 (2:03.73).
 
The men's throwers saw sophomore Dyheim Watson place 28th of 54 in the shot put (10.67 meters) and 12th of 39 in the weight throw (13.97).
 
On the women's side, the 4x200 relay team of sophomores A'Maya Stanard and Sydnie Marshall and juniors Angelina Cellucci and Isabella Bordon finished 10th of 14 (1:57.26). Marshall and Bordon also competed in the 54-athlete field of the 400-meter dash, finishing 28th (1:05.73) and 35th (1:06.51), respectively. Stanard placed 33rd of 44 at 800 meters (2:50.02) and Cellucci also ran the 200-meter dash, finishing 82nd of 86 (32.95).
 
Senior Francis Hill led the Raptors' throwers by finishing 37th of 60 in the shot put (8.46 meters), while sophomore Mya Cabanas Montero competed in two throwing events, placing 55th in the shot put (5.69 meters) and 45th of 56 in the weight throw (8.44 meters).
 
Rutgers-Camden returns to action on Friday at 12 p.m. when it returns to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex for the NYC Gotham Cup.
