Raptors' track team runs at NYC Gotham Cup

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (Jan. 17, 2025) – Several members of the Rutgers University-Camden indoor track team competed here Friday and turned in strong performances at the elite NYC Gotham Cup, held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
 
Junior Jacob Dinerman continued his stellar scholastic year by finishing fourth of 50 in the mile with a PR of 4:14.22, not far off the program indoor mark of 4:12.90.
 
Sophomore Robert Bayard and junior Walter Pierce had fine showings in the 54-man field of the 60-meter dash, finishing 21st (7.32) and 32nd (7.46), respectively. In the 63-athlete field of the men's 400-meter dash, freshmen Kristopher Ewell finished 48th (54.19) and Antonio Busbee placed 54th (54.69).
 
Sophomore Dyheim Watson competed in a pair of throwing events, finishing 23rd of 35 in the men's shot put with a PR of 11.20 meters and placing 19th of 31 in the weight throw (13.46 meters).
 
Sophomore Hector Diaz finished 29th of 30 in the 60-meter hurdles (11.14).
 
In the 33-athlete field of the women's 60-meter dash, all three Scarlet Raptors set a PR, including sophomores Sydnie Marshall (8.66) and Matogoma Meite (9.57), who finished 22nd and 30th, respectively. Academic senior Angelina Cellucci, a first-year member of the team who has junior eligibility in track, finished 31st (9.59).
 
Junior Isabella Bordon finished 44th of 49 in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:06.55, barely missing her PR of 1:06.51.
 
Marshall also set a PR in the 200-meter dash (27.70), while finishing 55th of 74. Bordon placed 69th with a PR of 29.70 and Cellucci finished 73rd (32.16).
 
Senior Francis Hill finished 33rd of 36 in the shot put (8.68 meters).
 
The women's 4x400 team was disqualified with an issue on the handoff, but the men's 4x400 relay team finished 20th of 21 in a time of 3:39.93. The team included Pierce, Bayard, Busbee and Ewell.
 
Rutgers-Camden will compete in the Collegeville Classic on Sunday at Ursinus College.
