CAMDEN, N.J. (Oct. 10, 2025) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's tennis took on a challenge from a Division II opponent here Friday and the Raptors came away with a couple of individual wins despite losing the match.
California University of Pennsylvania defeated Rutgers-Camden, 5-2, to drop the Raptors' overall record to 6-3. The Vulcans improved to 3-1.
It was the second straight season the Scarlet Raptors battled an opponent from Division II. Last September the Scarlet Raptors dropped a 4-3 decision against Kutztown University.
The Scarlet Raptors earned their wins at fourth singles behind freshman
Bella Albert (6-4, 6-0) and sixth singles behind freshman
Leila O'Brien (6-1, 6-2).
Cal (PA) swept all three doubles matches to earn the one point for doubles. At first doubles,
Bella Albert and her freshman twin sister
Gabby Albert dropped a 6-2 decision, while sophomores
Grace Albert and
Jilliane Jaugan were defeated at second doubles, 6-3. Senior
Katie Moore and O'Brien lost a 6-1 decision at third doubles.
Gabby Albert lost at first singles (6-2, 6-0), Jaugan was defeated at the second singles flight (6-4, 6-1) and
Grace Albert lost at third singles (6-1, 6-0). Moore dropped a 7-5, 6-1 match at fifth singles.
The women close their fall semester schedule on Oct. 17 with a 3 p.m. match at Lehman College.
