Scarlet Raptors compete at huge Border Battle meet
LOGAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Oct. 18, 2025) – The Rutgers University-Camden cross country programs saw eight men and four women compete here Saturday at the huge annual Border Battle that feature four races and nearly 1,000 athletes.
The Rutgers-Camden men finished 33rd out of 35 teams with 935 points in the 8K Division III Championship race, while a pair of Scarlet Raptors competed in the 8K Open race. On the women's side, four Raptors competed in the 6K Open race, in which only 14 schools fielded complete teams. The women didn't compete in the 6K Division III Championship race.
The largest field of the day came in the 327-athlete race of the Men's 8K DIII Championship, which was won by Carnegie Mellon (67 points) in a field of 35 teams. Rutgers-Camden finished 33rd with 935 points. The individual race was won by Haverford's Micah Lachman (24:28.8).
Junior
Jacob Dinerman led the Scarlet Raptors and finished 20th overall in a time of 25:12.5, while freshman
Jack Wessner finished 298th (30:18.5), freshman
Dylan Davies placed 307th (30:59.0) and freshman
Erick Lopez placed 313th (31:14.7). Raptor freshman
Joseph Simone was 316th (32:57.0) and junior
Angel Chaj finished 319th (34:18.8).
In the men's 8K Open race, Joshua Cason (RUXC Alumni) finished first out of 215 runners in a time of 25:41.2. The Raptors ran a pair of freshmen in that race as
Jonathan Gomez placed 204th (39:29.6) and
Ajani Pinkett finished 207th (41:15.0).
On the women's side, Nevaya Carr of the Penn State Club Cross Country program finished first in the 154-runner 6K race, posting a time of 22:53.4. Rutgers-Camden's leading runner was freshman
Dejia Robert, who placed 27th in a PR time of 25:33.1. Raptors senior
Xochitl Bautista-Castelan finished 96th (28:28.0), junior
Lindsay Lopez Trejo finished 133rd (33:48.2) and sophomore
Katelynn Aurelus placed 137th (34:44.5).
Rutgers-Camden returns to action on Friday when it competes at the Last Chance Run Fast Invitational, hosted by Lebanon Valley College at the Union Canal Tunnel Park in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
