WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (March 21, 2025) – The Denison University baseball team shut down the Rutgers University-Camden Scarlet Raptors on three hits here Friday as the Big Red posted an 8-0 victory in a battle of nationally-ranked teams at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.
Denison (Granville, Ohio), ranked #7 in both the D3baseball.com and ABCA national polls, improved to 12-3. Rutgers-Camden, ranked #19 by D3baseball.com and #25 in the ABCA poll, fell to 11-5 with its third straight loss.
Denison scored the only run that junior starter Will Rettig (2-1) needed in the top of the first inning. Two singles, sandwiched around a walk, loaded the bases before junior center fielder Erik Sundgren picked up an RBI with a fielder's choice.

Rettig worked the first eight innings, allowing only three hits and one walk, while striking out eight. Senior Ryan Starr struck out the side in the ninth inning.
Raptor senior starter
