CAMDEN, N.J. (April 10, 2025) – The DeSales University softball team ripped 14 hits and scored 15 runs in a five-inning opening game and survived a Rutgers-Camden rally in the nightcap as it swept a non-conference doubleheader here Thursday, 15-0 and 3-2.
The sweep evens the Bulldogs' record at 12-12, while the Scarlet Raptors fall to 4-21.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action on Saturday with a New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader at Kean University, beginning at 1 p.m.
DeSales 15, Rutgers-Camden 0
DeSales exploded for six unearned runs with two outs in the top of the third inning, taking advantage of an error, a walk and five hits. The frame was capped by a three-run home run to left field by sophomore third baseman Abigayle Freideman.
The Bulldogs added nine runs in the fourth inning, aided by seven hits, two errors, two walks and a hit batsman.
For the game, Freideman went 3-for-3 with two runs and four RBIs, while senior first baseman Tori Kenney went 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs.
DeSales senior pitcher Rachel Lowry hurled a five-hit shutout, walking one and striking out seven, to raise her record to 10-3. Two of the hits came from junior shortstop

Zoie Mantzell had a fourth-inning single for her first collegiate hit.
Rutgers-Camden starter
Anna Milillo (0-3) only allowed two earned runs out of the 10 charged against her in 4.2 innings. She walked one, struck out four and surrendered 12 hits.

The Bulldogs scored three runs over the first two innings – one of them unearned – against Raptor sophomore starter
Molly Skelly (2-4) and hung on for the win. They plated a pair of runs on a first-inning double by junior designated player Shana Gugliandolo and added an unearned run on a second-inning throwing error.
Skelly held DeSales scoreless the rest of the way in a seven-hitter, walking five and striking out seven. In the meantime, DeSales junior Riley Long (2-3) was shutting down the Scarlet Raptors until the sixth inning, when Rutgers-Camden scored both of its runs. Senior left fielder
Emily Dubiago led off the frame with a double for her 92nd career hit. She moved to third on a single by Bauer and was squeezed home by sophomore right fielder
Kali Baker. Senior first baseman
Luci Hutchinson, who had two hits in the twinbill, added an RBI single for her 92nd career hit. Freshman center fielder
Ryleigh Lender followed with a double to put two runners in scoring position, but Long worked out of the jam with a fly out.
Sophomore designated player
Devyn Jordan singled to open the bottom of the seventh and was sacrificed to second base by junior second baseman
Bella Lynch. Long retired the next two batters to earn the complete game win.
Jordan and Bauer both had three hits in the doubleheader, while Lender and Hutchinson had two hits apiece. Baker and Lynch both collected two sacrifices.
