GALLOWAY, N.J. (April 17, 2025) – The Stockton University baseball team produced three-run innings in the first, second, fifth and sixth frames and went on to defeat Rutgers University-Camden, 14-3, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Thursday.
The win evens the Ospreys' record at 15-15 overall and lifts them to 4-7 in the NJAC. Rutgers-Camden falls to 21-11 overall and 5-6 in conference play.
After Rutgers-Camden scored a run in the top of the first inning on four hits, including an RBI single by graduate designated hitter
Jack Murphy, the Ospreys bounced back in the bottom of the frame. A pair of walks set the stage for a two-out, three-run home run by junior right fielder Nick Avagnano.
The Ospreys added three more runs in the second inning, capped by a two-run home run from senior left fielder Tucker Elder. In the fifth inning, four hits and a sacrifice fly produced three more runs, while the three-run sixth was highlighted by a two-run single from junior catcher Cooper Fiore.
Stockton added single runs in the seventh and eighth innings. Rutgers-Camden scored its final two runs in the ninth inning on a sacrifice fly by junior second/first baseman

Avagnano led a 14-hit Stockton attack, going 3-for-5 with three runs and three RBIs. Romond went 2-for-4 with one RBI for Rutgers-Camden.
Sophomore
John Ormsby IV (1-2) took the loss, working two innings and allowing six runs, five earned. He allowed five walks and two hits.
Stockton senior Rob Jeans worked the first six innings, allowing eight hits, three walks and one earned run. He struck out four while evening his record at 2-2.
The Scarlet Raptors conclude their home-and-home NJAC series with Stockton University on Friday with a 3:30 p.m. game in Camden.
