Scarlet Raptors set PRs at Lions Invitational

EWING, N.J. (April 26, 2025) – Several members of the Rutgers University-Camden track team completed a busy weekend for the Scarlet Raptors as they competed here Saturday on the second day of the Lions Invitational at The College of New Jersey.
 
The Raptors also sent two athletes to the Lions Invitational on Friday, as well as having three relay teams compete at the Penn Relays.
 
On Saturday, the Raptors collected six PR marks, including two by junior Angelina Cellucci, who participated in the women's 100-meter and 400-meter dashes for the first time. She finished 36th of 37 in the 100-meter dash (20.27) and 33rd of 35 at 400 meters (1:18.49). Rutgers-Camden also saw freshman Katelynn Aurelus finish 32nd in the 100-meter dash with a PR of 14.43, while senior Rokhaya Dabo and freshman Angelina Francis finished 29th and 34th, respectively, at 400 meters in times of 1:12.50 and 1:20.50.
 
Junior Walter Pierce also competed in a pair of events, placing 23rd of 25 in the 110-meter hurdles (18.51) and 37th of 40 in the long jump with a PR of 5.53 meters.
 
Junior Kayla Franklin, who competed in the javelin Friday at the Lions Invitational, was back again on Saturday, competing in the shot put and finishing 12th of 28 athletes (11.69 meters).
 
Senior Maria Lopez finished 49th of 56 in the women's 800-meter race in a PR of 2:57.84.
 
The men's 800-meter event saw freshman Gabriel Iorio finish 67th of 69 with a PR of 2:29.98, while sophomore Angel Chaj placed 68th (2:33.74). The men also had graduate student Louis Juliano competing at 1,500 meters and placing 44th of 45 (5:34.43).
 
The full Rutgers-Camden team will compete next Friday and Saturday at The College of New Jersey for the New Jersey Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
