LANGHORNE, Penn. (Sept. 19, 2025) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's tennis team already had its match clinched Friday when it arrived to play against short-handed Cairn University.
With the Highlanders only fielding three players, the Scarlet Raptors automatically won the point for doubles matches, while earning forfeit wins at the last three singles spots. The Scarlet Raptors ended up posting a 6-1 victory as they raised their record to 2-0.
In the lone doubles match contested, sophomores
Jilliane Jaugan and
Grace Albert posted a 7-6 (7-0) win at the top flight. The Raptors earned forfeit wins at second doubles (freshmen
Gabby Albert and
Bella Albert) and at third doubles (senior
Katie Moore and freshman
Leila O'Brien).
Gabby Albert dropped a 6-3, 6-4 decision at first singles, but Jaugan won, 6-1, 6-1, at the second flight.
Bella Albert won at third singles by 6-1, 6-0 scores. The Raptors earned forfeit victories at the fourth through sixth singles spots behind
Grace Albert, Moore and O'Brien, respectively.
The women return to action Saturday at 11 a.m. when they host Cedar Crest College.
