Thang breaks pole vault mark as Raptors compete at Fastrack National Invite
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (Feb. 6, 2026) – The Rutgers University-Camden indoor track team returned to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex for the fourth time this season as it competed Friday at the Fastrack National Invite, and among the Scarlet Raptors' many highlights was a record-breaking performance by freshman
Lian Thang.
Thang broke his own program record with a pole vault of 3.95 meters to finish 16th of 33. His old mark of 3.80 meters was set on Feb. 1 at the Widener Schuylkill Showcase.
In the invitational events, the Scarlet Raptor men saw three athletes compete, with freshman
Jamir Driggins placing 22nd of 23 in the 60-meter hurdles (9.03), while freshmen
Jayden Deleon and
Abdulbasit Shodolu both posted a high jump of 1.90 meters. Deleon tied for ninth in the 15-man competition, while Shodolu placed 12th.

Kamari Brown also competed in the College Men's 60-meter dash, with Brown finishing 46th of 93 (7.42) and Driggins placing 69th (a PR of 7.58).
In the men's 400-meter dash, freshman
Oluwatobi Popoola finished 63rd of 133 (52.47), junior
Steven Crespo was 107th (a PR of 54.65) and Brown placed 114th (a PR of 55.11).
Brown and Crespo also competed in the 142-man field of the 200-meter dash, with Brown finishing 49th (a PR of 22.99) and Crespo placing 136th (a PR of 25.09).
Junior
Dyheim Watson finished fifth of 43 in the weight throw (14.94 meters) and 24th of 54 in the shot put (a PR of 12.52 meters). Freshman
Michael Hawkins placed 40th (10.90 meters) in the shot put and freshman
Monroe Hall was 45th (a PR of 0.57 meters).
Freshman
Will Dupreville was 25th of 36 in the long jump (5.77 meters) and freshman
Jonathan Hines finished 35th (5.09 meters).
In the Women's College competitions, four Scarlet Raptors competed in the 54-athlete field of the 60-meter dash, with sophomore
Deleon Benjamin finishing 39th (8.62), freshman
Sofia Tabet placing 48th (a PR of 8.84), freshman
Shania Bernard finishing 51st (9.00) and junior
Osagiaodouwa Ugowe placing 54th (9.69).
Freshman
Talia Thomasson finished 22nd of 29 in the 60-meter hurdles with a PR of 10.52, and 88th of 100 in the 400-meter dash (a PR of 1:06.41), while junior
Sydnie Marshall finished 55th at 400 meters (a PR of 1:02.76) and was 70th of 106 in the 200-meter dash (27.94).
Tabet was 94th in the 200-meter dash (29.35), Benjamin placed 95th (29.40) and Ugowe was 106th (a PR of 33.71). Ugowe also finished 27th of 29 in the long jump (3.69 meters).
In the field competitions, senior
Kayla Franklin placed 14th of 44 in the shot put (11.12 meters) and 32nd of 43 in the weight throw (a PR of 10.94 meters).
Rutgers-Camden will compete in the Frank Colden Invitational on Saturday at Ursinus College.
