CAMDEN, N.J. (March 10, 2026) – The Rutgers University-Camden softball team shook off a stunning defeat in the opening game of its doubleheader here Tuesday and defeated Albright College in the nightcap to earn a twinbill split.
Albright scored three times in the top of the seventh inning to pull out a 4-3 win in the opener. Rutgers-Camden bounced back for a 7-6 win in the nightcap.
The split leaves the Scarlet Raptors with a 2-2 record, while Albright stands at 5-3.
Rutgers-Camden opens its spring break trip in Kissimmee, Florida on Saturday facing the University of Maine-Farmington at 9 a.m. and the University of Southern Maine at 11 a.m.

Rutgers-Camden took a 3-1 lead to the top of the seventh inning behind the strong pitching of junior
Sammie Friel (1-1) before the Golden Wolves scored three times on three walks, a hit batsman and one hit.
Two walks, sandwiched around a hit batter loaded the bases with one out before sophomore winning pitcher Alexis Laboy (1-1) forced home a run with a walk. Junior first baseman Katie Behler followed with a two-run double to center field to give the Golden Wolves the lead.
Albright scored its first run in the first inning on an RBI single by senior catcher Madison Lasko, but the Scarlet Raptors tied the game in the fifth inning, sparked by a one-out single from junior second baseman

Ava Iepson and junior third baseman
Alana Gannon followed with singles to load the bases. Sophomore designated player
Madi Carr plated the run with a sacrifice fly.
The Scarlet Raptors scored twice in the sixth inning, with junior center fielder
Kali Baker sparking a two-out rally with a single. Bauer and Iepson followed with singles, with Iepson picking up an RBI. Bauer added the Raptors' final run when Gannon reached on an error.
Laboy and Friel both hurled complete games, with Laboy allowing nine hits and three runs (two unearned). She walked two and struck out six. Bauer, Iepson and Gannon had two hits apiece for Rutgers-Camden.
Friel allowed seven hits, six walks, two hit batters and four earned runs. She struck out 11 for the second straight start.

After Albright took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, Rutgers-Camden bounced back with three runs in the second inning on four hits, sparked by a leadoff double from Carr. Sophomore catcher
Zoie Mantzell singled Carr to third and stole second. Junior left fielder
Victoria Connelly ripped a two-run double to left field and scored on a single by Iepson.
Three hits and a walk helped Albright regain the lead in the fourth inning as the Golden Wolves scored three times. Rutgers-Camden, however, countered with four runs in the bottom of the frame to surge back in front, 7-5. The Scarlet Raptors used three hits, two walks and a hit batsman in the frame, with Iepson hitting an RBI single, Baker stroking an RBI double and Bauer capping the frame with a two-run double.

Natalie D'Angelo relieved junior starter
Anna Milillo in the fourth inning and finished the game to earn her first collegiate decision. She worked 3.1 innings, allowing three hits, one walk and one run, while striking out one.
Iepson and Baker both collected two hits for Rutgers-Camden. Iepson finished the day going 4-for-7 with one run and three RBIs.
