TCNJ sweeps Rutgers-Camden to earn another NJAC women's tennis title

EWING, N.J. (April 25, 2026) – The College of New Jersey has been the perennial New Jersey Athletic Conference champion for years.

Nothing changed here on Saturday as TCNJ won another conference championship, continuing its amazing streak that started in 1982 when it was Trenton State College and competing in the Jersey Athletic Conference.

Needing only four victories to capture the best-of-seven match for the NJAC title, TCNJ swept past Rutgers-Camden, 4-0, for another conference title.

The top-seeded Lions improved to 19-1 overall. The second-seeded Scarlet Raptors, competing in their first NJAC championship match, close their season at 12-5. Rutgers-Camden is 0-19 against TCNJ since it restarted its tennis program in 2011. It was the fourth time the Scarlet Raptors have lost to the Lions in the NJAC tournament, with the other three times coming in the semifinals.

TCNJ won the point for doubles play by capturing the first and third doubles matches. At first doubles, freshmen Gabby Albert and Bella Albert dropped a 6-1 decision. At third doubles, senior co-captain Katie Moore and freshman Leila O'Brien lost a 6-0 match. With the point already secured, the second doubles match, with sophomores Grace Albert and Jilliane Jaugan, was left unfinished with Rutgers-Camden trailing, 2-6, 0-4.

TCNJ secured the points it needed with wins at first, fifth and sixth singles. Gabby Albert dropped a 0-6, 1-6 decision at first singles, while both Moore and O'Brien lost, 0-6, 0-6, at fifth and sixth singles, respectively. Jaugan was trailing at second singles, 0-6, 0-4, when her match was left unfinished. The third and fourth singles players, Grace Albert and Bella Albert, never took the court.

With their 12-5 record for the 2025-26 season and the program's first trip to the NJAC final, the Scarlet Raptors posted their most victories since a 13-5 campaign during the 2021-22 season. Moore, meanwhile, ended up as the program's all-time leader in doubles victories (38) and was second in both singles wins (36) and overall wins (74).
