Barry M. Millett started his Rutgers career as Associate Dean of Men in 1965 as Rutgers College in New Brunswick.
He came to Rutgers-Camden in 1967 as Dean of Students, and over the years he served both the college as a whole, and the athletic department as a golf coach. The second person enshrined in Rutgers-Camden’s Circle of Honor on Jan. 26, 2002 (fellow inductee Pony Wilson was the first in the Circle of Honor), Millett coached the golf team from the early 1970s through the 1981-82 school year. His team posted a 17-2 record during the 1980 fall season and captured the NAIA District 19 championship during both the 1979-80 and 1980-81 seasons.
Millett was named to the newly-created position of Associate Provost for Student Life in 1987, with responsibility for all activities related to housing, dining, the Campus Center, undergraduate career counseling, disabled and military veteran students, and more. He served Rutgers in that post until his retirement in 1992.
From 1948-52, Millett was with the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Maine in 1956 and a Master's degree in Education from Boston University in 1961. He served as an administrator at the University of Maine before beginning his Rutgers career.
Millett passed away on March 30, 1995.
