4711One of the greatest athletes in school history, Karla Robinson scored 1,441 points in only three years of basketball at Rutgers-Camden between 1990-94. She is fourth on the career list in scoring, fourth in average (18.5 ppg), first in assists (361), second in free throw percentage (70.6), third in field goal percentage (43.4) and steals (208) and fourth in free throws (324) and field goals (554).

Robinson had an incredible season in 1991-92, setting single-season marks with 712 points, 163 assists and 285 field goals, while averaging 24.6 points per game (fourth highest). She was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference and the ECAC/Holiday Inn Div. III Metro NY/NJ Player of the Year, earned First Team all-star honors from both organizations and capped off her season by earning MVP honors while leading Rutgers-Camden to the title of the ECAC Div. III Metro NY/NJ tournament. She also was a Champion USA/WBCA Player of the Year nominee.

Robinson also holds the school’s single-game assist record of 14.

4710Rutgers-Camden’s NJAIAW Woman of the Year in 1995, Robinson was the basketball team MVP in 1990-91 and the school’s Female Athlete of the Year for 1991-1992. Two years later she captured the William P. Carty Memorial Award as the team’s Most Courageous Athlete after recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee that sidelined her for the entire 1992-93 season.

Robinson, who also ran cross country at Rutgers-Camden, served her school as an assistant women’s basketball coach for four seasons (1994-95, 1995-96, 1996-97 and 1999-2000).

A former All-Group 4 and All-South Jersey star at Camden High School, Robinson also served as the junior varsity coach at that school during the 1997-98 and 1998-99 seasons.
