ASTON, PA (Aug. 30, 2013) - The Rutgers-Camden women's tennis team started the season with a win over Neumann University, 8-1.
Amanda Hickman (Millville, NJ/Millville) and Morgan Kelly (Sicklerville, NJ/Paul IV) won 8-5 in the first spot. Avery Forte (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) and Kelly Bates (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) came up short 8-5 as the No. 2 duo. At third doubles, Kelsey Mercer (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) and Amy Tung (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill) won 8-3.
In singles action, Rutgers-Camden won all six matches over the Knights. Amanda Hickman won 6-0, 6-1 in the first spot. At the No. 2 spot, Morgan Kellywon 6-3, 6-6 (7-3). Kelsey Mercer won 6-1, 6-1 in the third spot. Tung, Forte, and Bates each won in their respective fourth, fifth and sixth spots.
Rutgers-Camden (1-0, NJAC 0-0) will travel to Moravian College on Saturday, Aug. 31 to compete in a tournament.
