BETHLEHEM, PA (Aug. 31, 2013) - The Rutgers-Camden women's tennis team falls short in the Moravian College Tennis Tournament this weekend.
The Scarlet Raptors lost to Moravian College 8 to 1 in the first round of the tournament. Rutgers-Camden lost all three doubles matches to the Greyhounds. In singles action, Amanda Hickman (Millville, NJ, Millville) scored the only point for the Scarlet Raptors with an 8-3 victory in the No. 1 spot.
Rutgers-Camden then played Gwynedd-Mercy College in a consolation match. The Griffin's beat the Scarlet Raptors 7 to 2. Rutgers-Camden scored their only points in doubles play. Christine Abacan (Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) and Jordan Crawley (Sicklerville, NJ/Timber Creek) won 9-8 (7-4) as the No. 2 duo. Avery Forte (Pitman, NJ, Pitman) and Kelly Bates (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) won 8-6 at third doubles.
Rutgers-Camden (1-2, NJAC 0-0) will travel to Immaculata University on Wednesday, Sep. 4.
