Box Score NEWARK, N.J. – The Rutgers-Newark men's basketball team held Rutgers-Camden without a field goal for a 9:40 stretch in the opening half during a 22-3 run and the Scarlet Raiders went on to post an 82-52 victory here Wednesday night in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game.
Newark, which improves to 12-5 overall and 8-2 in the NJAC, has won six straight games.
Rutgers-Camden falls to 3-14 overall and 1-9 in the NJAC.
The Scarlet Raiders, who posted a 77-62 win in Camden on Jan. 6 in the first meeting of the season between the two clubs, lead the all-time series, 44-34.
Leading, 9-8, Newark ran off 10 straight points to begin its big run, which was interrupted by a free throw from Raptor junior guard/forward

Chris Foreman (Union, NJ/Union) nailed back-to-back three-pointers. After Rutgers-Camden sophomore guard/forward
John Tatem (Camden, NJ/Pennsauken Tech) hit a pair of free throws, Rutgers-Newark responded with six more points, making the score 31-27. The Raptors finally hit a shot from the floor with 1:48 remaining in the half, as Tatem connected to end Rutgers-Camden's drought of 9:40 without a field goal.
By halftime, Newark had opened up a 35-17 lead, with Foreman scoring 12 of those points. Tatem had 10 of the Scarlet Raptors' first 17 points.

John Snow (Newark, NJ/Montclair Kimberley), who scored 26 points the first time the teams played this season, notched 15 for the Scarlet Raiders, while sophomore forward
David Azoroh (Ewing, NJ/Ewing) and junior guard
Christian Garcia (Freehold, NJ/Freehold) both canned 10. Garcia's 10-point effort hiked his career total to 1,005, while also notching four assists.
Tatem finished with 21 points and a career-high 10 rebounds as he notched his first double-double for the Scarlet Raptors. His previous rebounding high was nine, coming against Rutgers-Newark in the Jan. 6 meeting, while his point total nearly matched his career high of 22 set against William Paterson University on Jan. 18.

Teon Russell (Camden, NJ/Woodrow Wilson) added 11 points for the Raptors, while Smart canned eight and freshman guard
Tom Heim (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Regional) tied his career scoring high with six points.
In addition to Tatem's 10 rebounds, Smart added eight.
Newark shot 30-for-59 (50.8 percent) from the floor, while Camden went 17-for-56 (30.4). The Scarlet Raiders also held a 45-32 advantage off the boards.
Both teams return to NJAC action Saturday. Rutgers-Newark plays a 1 p.m. game at Montclair State University, while Rutgers-Camden hosts Ramapo College at 3 p.m.
