Box Score CAMDEN, N.J. (Oct. 10, 2015) – After suffering a pair of losses in their last two games, the nationally-ranked Rutgers University-Camden men's soccer team was looking to rebound with a Homecoming Day victory in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game here Saturday afternoon.
The Scarlet Raptors accomplished their goal and more.
Senior forward
Mike Ryan (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) scored the first two goals of the game and the Scarlet Raptors went on to receive points from eight different players as they defeated Ramapo College, 5-1.

D3soccer.com Top 25, improves to 9-3-1 overall and 4-1 in the NJAC, while Ramapo falls to 5-6-2 and 0-4-1. The Scarlet Raptors have won their last five games against the Roadrunners and lead the all-time series, 18-13-4.
Ryan put the Scarlet Raptors ahead to stay at 14:57 after senior midfielder
Connor Hurff (Sewell, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) was fouled just outside the top of the box. Ryan took the restart and tucked his 14th goal of the season inside the right post.
Ryan scored again early in the second half, running onto a long punt by freshman goalie
James Brett (Palmyra, NJ/Palmyra) and finishing his 15th goal at 46:13. The two goals raised Ryan's career total to 72, allowing him to tie for second on the all-time NJAC goal list with Wayne Huston from Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey), from 1962-65. The all-time NJAC leader is Fred Guiran of Kean (1990-92) with 74.
Ryan's four points also lifted him to third all-time on the NJAC list, giving him 160 to pass Herman Maldonado, who had 158 points at Richard Stockton College (now Stockton University) from 1983-86. Greg Boyle of Glassboro State (now Rowan) is second with 172 points from 1984-87.
Brett, meanwhile, earned the second assist of his young career, becoming the first Raptor goalie to accomplish that feat. He also had an assist against New Jersey City University Sept. 21. The only other Raptor goalie since 1990 to notch two points in his career was David Cunningham, who scored on a penalty kick in 2006.
Trailing, 2-0, the Roadrunners got a goal back at 65:25 when sophomore forward
Justin Olaya (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) redirected a drive at the left post. The drive was sent into the box by freshman back
Leandro Gonzalez (Harrison, NJ/Harrison). The Roadrunners' goal lit a spark under the Scarlet Raptors, who finished scored three goals over an 11-minute span from 75:11-86:11. Sophomore
Aaron Muse (Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) scored his second goal of the season off a restart to the far post by senior midfielder
Grant Taylor (Mendham, NJ/West Morris-Mendham) at 75:11. Less than four minutes later, freshman
Vincenzo Masitti (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt) scored his third goal, assisted by
Connor Hurff. It was the 10th assist of the season for Hurff, making him only the eighth player in program history to reach double-digits in assists in one season. The assist also raised his career mark to 23, seventh on the program's all-time list and only five shy of the Rutgers-Camden record held by Mike Zeno (1992-95).
The Raptors closed out the scoring at 86:11 on the first Rutgers-Camden goal by sophomore forward
Shane Guyer (Hammonton, NJ/Hammonton), a transfer to the program after spending his freshman season at NJAC rival Rowan University. Guyer took a feed from freshman
Feli Csombok (South River, NJ/South River) and sidestepped a defender in the box before closing out the scoring.
Rutgers-Camden held a 14-11 advantage in shots and a 4-3 edge in corner kicks. Brett made two saved in 83:44 to earn the victory, while sophomore
Drew Slater (Atco, NJ/Hammonton) finished up the game with the final 6:16 in goal.
Junior
Matthew Hernandez (Fort Lee, NJ/Fort Lee) made five saves for the Roadrunners.
The Scarlet Raptors return to action Sunday when they host Randolph College in a 4 p.m. non-conference game.
Ramapo also plays a non-conference game in its next contest, hosting Lehman College Monday at 3:45 p.m.
