UNION, N.J. (Oct. 12, 2015) – Three weeks and three rainouts after playing their last New Jersey Athletic Conference match, the Rutgers University-Camden women's tennis team finally returned to NJAC action here Monday, falling to Kean University, 7-2.
The Cougars improve to 6-3 overall and 2-3 in the NJAC, while the Scarlet Raptors fall to 1-7 and 1-2.
Senior
Amanda Hickman (Millville, NJ/Millville) helped to account for both Scarlet Raptor points. Hickman won her first singles match, 6-0, 6-3, and combined with sophomore
Angela Errigo (Shamong, NJ/Seneca) to post an 8-4 victory at first doubles.
Hickman raised her season record to 6-2 at both first singles and first doubles.
Errigo dropped a 6-4, 6-4 decision at second singles, while junior
Christine Abacan (Collingswood, NJ/Collingswood) lost her third singles match, 6-0, 6-1. Freshman
Bryana Foxx-Parham (Richmond, VA/Armstrong) lost at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Abacan and Foxx-Parham lost their second doubles match, 8-4.
Competing with only four players, the Raptors lost at fifth and sixth singles and at third doubles by default.
The Scarlet Raptors close out their season with three straight rescheduled NJAC matches that were rained out earlier this season. They play at Stockton University Oct. 23 (4:30 p.m.) before playing home matches Oct. 24 and 25 against Ramapo College (12 p.m.) and William Paterson University (1 p.m.), respectively.
