

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. (Oct. 24, 2015) – The Rutgers University-Camden crew team competed in four races here Saturday at the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta, including junior
Phil Pilat (Woodbury, NJ/Cherry Hill East), who placed ninth of 10 in the
Redgrave Challenge Men's Championship Light Singles in a time of 17:50.16.
"Phil was racing against elite athletes who are on track to be national team rowers," said Rutgers-Camden Women's Head Coach
Justine Philyaw. "We are really proud of Phil for a solid showing versus some of the best under-23 rowers in the country."
The men also were 44th of 47 in the
Fours with Cox, posting a 17:11.96 clocking. Members of the boat were Pilat,
Gregory Barry (Pennsauken, NJ/Camden Catholic), Chris Licata (Marlton, NJ/Bishop Eustace Prep), Geoffrey Chmura (Plainfield, NJ/Union Catholic Regional) and coxswain
Sean Jensen (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West). On the women's side, the Scarlet Raptors finished 22nd of 24 boats in the
Frosh/Novice Fours with cox, posting a time of 21:55.23. That boat included
Tracy Austin (Haddon Township, NJ/Camden Catholic), LeeAnn Still (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West), Kayla Figueroa (Brigantine, NJ/Forest Hills) and
Veronica Roselli (North Haledon, NJ/Paramus Catholic) with coxswain
Melissa Price (Haddon Township, NJ/Haddon Township). The women also placed 39th of 41 (21:08.32) in the
Frosh/Novice Eights race, with a boat comprised of
Austin, Still, Mia Di Lolle (Haddon Township, NJ/Haddon Township), Briana Tichian (Haddon Township, NJ/Haddon Township), Briana Colwell (Haddon Township, NJ/Haddon Township), AnnaMarie Leddy (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Holy Cross), Figueroa, Roselli and coxswain Price.


"Rutgers-Camden raced a women's 8+ which is always the premier race at collegiate regattas," Philyaw said. "Our women competed in the novice 8 category and beat conference rival Bryn Mawr by just over a second."
Philyaw and Men's Head Coach
Sean Kendall will guide the Scarlet Raptors at one more race this fall, coming at Stockton University on Saturday.
"We are especially excited about the progress of novices Theresa (Tracy) Austin, Lee Ann Still and
Sean Jensen," Philyaw said.
