Women's pair earns semifinal berth at Dad Vail Regatta

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. (May 13, 2016) – The Rutgers University-Camden men's and women's rowing teams are closing their season competing in the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta on the Schuylkill River, but the women's pair team extended its season until Saturday.
 
Senior Olivia Rowland (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough) and junior Melissa Price (Haddon Township, NJ/Haddon Township) finished seventh out of 24 teams in the Women's Varsity Pair time trials here Friday, posting a time of 7:38.253 to advance to Saturday's semifinals. The top 18 teams advanced to the semifinals, with the Scarlet Raptors scheduled to compete in the first of four semifinals, beginning at 8:48 a.m. The finals will be held at 12:50 p.m.
 
Rowland and Price will be trying to build on their outstanding season, which saw them capture the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) women's pair title for the second straight season. Both rowers also captured All-MARC Varsity honors. Rowland won team MVP honors for the second straight year, while Price was earned Most Dedicated honors for the women's team.
 
In the Men's Collegiate Single, junior Phil Pilat (Woodbury, NJ/Cherry Hill East) posted a time of 8:53.860 as he finished fifth in his five-man heat, which was won by Clarkson's Dylan Hooper Goetinck (8:20.326). Pilat's stellar junior season included All-MARC Varsity honors for the second consecutive spring after earning All-Novice Team recognition in 2014. He also was named Rutgers-Camden's team MVP for the second straight year.
 
In the Women's Frosh/Novice Four, the Raptors finished fifth in their five-boat heat, posting a time of 9:00.338. The heat was won by Rollins (8:21.853), and also featured James Madison, MIT and Bucknell. Members of the women's novice boat included junior Tracy Austin (Haddon Township, NJ/Camden Catholic), junior LeeAnn Still (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West), freshman Veronica Rosselli (North Haledon, NJ/Paramus Catholic), freshman Mia Di Lolle (Haddon Township, NJ/Haddon Township) and sophomore coxswain Briana Tichian (Haddon Township, NJ/Haddon Township).
 
Austin, in her first year with the Scarlet Raptor program, earned All-MARC Novice recognition.
