CAMDEN, N.J. (Oct. 26, 2015) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's soccer team took a break from the rigors of the New Jersey Athletic Conference in its final home game of the season here Monday night, but the Scarlet Raptors didn't change their winning ways.

Rutgers-Camden scored a goal in each half and outshot the College of Staten Island, 30-4, as it defeated the Dolphins, 2-0, in a non-conference game.

The victory was the third straight for the Raptors, who raised their record to 6-8-1. It marked Rutgers-Camden's first three-game winning streak since Oct. 10-17, 2009.

The College of Staten Island, one of the top teams in the CUNYAC, falls to 10-4-1 with its second straight loss. The Dolphins are 1-3 against teams from the NJAC.

The Scarlet Raptors rolled up their most shots of the season, forcing CSI senior goalie Kristy Colangelo (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph by the Sea) to make 17 saves. She also was helped by one team backsave.

Despite holding a 12-1 advantage in shots in the opening half, the Raptors didn't score until 1:03 remained before halftime. That's when sophomore midfielder Amber Cobb (Mullica Township, NJ/Cedar Creek) slipped a pass from the left touchline toward the top of the box, where she found senior midfielder Tori Gerstenacker (Howell, NJ/Howell). Gerstenacker fired a high shot toward the opposite side of the net that went over Colangelo and into the net for her first goal of the season. It was Cobb's first assist of the year and marked the third consecutive game in which she scored – she notched one goal apiece in wins over New Jersey City University and Rutgers-Newark last week.

While the Raptors pounded away at the CSI goal in the second half to the tune of an 18-3 advantage in shots, it wasn't until midway through the half that they notched another goal. Junior forward Catherine Fiore (Collingswood, NJ/Paul VI) was tripped entering the top of the box on the left side, drawing a penalty kick. She converted the shot at 64:35 for her team-leading sixth goal of the year.

The Scarlet Raptors also held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks, while sophomore keeper Katie Gurba (Westampton, NJ/Holy Cross) made two saves to notch her third shutout of the season.

Rutgers-Camden closes the regular season on Wednesday with a NJAC game at Stockton University, beginning at 7 p.m. The Scarlet Raptors need to win that game and get help from two other teams in order to qualify for the NJAC playoffs.
