HAVERFORD, Penn. (Jan. 16, 2017) – The Rutgers University-Camden men's basketball team went on a 23-14 run over the final nine minutes of its non-conference game here Monday night as it rallied to defeat Haverford College, 69-62.
Rutgers-Camden improves to 3-11, snapping a two-game losing streak. Haverford falls to 2-13 with its fifth straight loss.

Isaac Destin (Woodlynne, NJ/Collingswood), who finished with a double-double, added a pair of layups to complete a seven-point run and give the Scarlet Raptors a 53-48 advantage. The closest the Fords came the rest of the way was three points, at 53-50.
Rutgers-Camden built a 29-27 halftime lead in a half of momentum swings. After falling behind, 4-2, the Raptors rattled off eight straight points, including three apiece by junior guard
Charlie Riccardi (Mullica Hill, NJ/St. Joseph-Hammonton) and Destin, to grab a 10-4 lead. After the Fords cut the gap to 10-7, the Raptors scored the next five points to take a 15-7 advantage, with sophomore guard
Elijah Robles (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) scoring the first three and Destin capping the run with a layup.
Haverford, however, fought back to eventually tie the game at 27-27 before a layup by
Marcus Taylor gave the Raptors the lead at the break.
Senior guard
Matt Sherman (Narberth, PA/Harriton) put the Fords back on top with a three-pointer to start the second half. Except for a brief lead change when freshman guard
Keith Washington Jr. (Clementon, NJ/Monsignor Bonner) hit a trey to make it a 40-39 Raptor lead, Haverford maintained that advantage until the Scarlet Raptors made their late-game surge to victory.
Destin finished with his fifth double-double of the season, collecting game-high totals of 24 points and 12 rebounds, both one shy of his career highs.
Shafeek Taylor, in only his second Rutgers-Camden game, notched his first double-double with 11 points and 11 boards.
Marcus Taylor collected 10 points and Riccardi added nine.
For Haverford, Sherman scored 19 points. Sophomore guard
Kahlil Garnes (Livingston, NJ/Kimball Union Academy) collected 17 points, while freshman forward
Jonathan Lang (Seattle, WA/Roosevelt) added 14.
Rutgers-Camden shot 17-for-21 (81.0 percent) from the line, including 6-for-8 from Destin and a perfect 3-for-3 from Robles.
Rutgers-Camden returns to New Jersey Athletic Conference action Wednesday when it hosts The College of New Jersey in an 8 p.m. game.
