GLENSIDE, Penn. (Jan. 2, 2017) – The Arcadia University men's basketball team went on a 14-6 run to open the second half, opening up a one-point halftime lead, and the Knights went on to defeat Rutgers University-Camden, 74-67, in a non-conference game here Monday night.
Arcadia improves to 7-5, while Rutgers-Camden falls to 0-8.
In a first half that featured seven lead changes, Arcadia built a 34-33 edge at the break, aided by 12 points from sophomore forward
Evan Slone (Souderton, PA/Souderton) and eight from sophomore guard
Josh Scott (Darby, PA/Penn Wood). The lead changed four times in the last two minutes of the half, with a layup by sophomore forward
Phil Pierfy (Easton, PA/Wilson Area) swinging the lead back to the Knights with nine seconds left before the break.
Rutgers-Camden received 10 first-half points from sophomore forward
Isaac Destin (Woodlynne, NJ/Collingswood), who also added six rebounds. Sophomore guard
Elijah Robles (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) added nine points in the first half.
The Knights had a quick start to the second half, scoring nine of the first 11 points, sparked by four from senior guard
Ryan Kelley (Mt. Arlington, NJ/Roxbury) After four foul shots from Destin sliced the Scarlet Raptors' deficit to 43-39, Arcadia sophomore guard/forward
Kyle Reilly (Fulton, MD/Reservoir) scored five straight points on a trey and a layup, hiking the Knights' lead to 48-39.
Arcadia eventually built a 15-point lead (70-55) before the Scarlet Raptors sliced the final margin to seven.

Julian Martin (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) gave him four points on the night and lifted him over 800 points for his combined career with Atlantic Cape Community College and Rutgers-Camden. Martin finished with nine points, hiking his career total to 806.
Slone finished with 18 points for the Knights, while Scott added 13. Junior guard
Brandon Thompson (Philadelphia, PA/Conestoga) added nine points and five assists.
Destin finished with 19 points and a game-high 10 rebounds to record his third double-double of the season and the fourth of his career. Freshman guard
Keith Washington Jr. (Clementon, NJ/Monsignor Bonner) added 16 points for the Raptors, while Robles and Martin both scored nine. Martin also notched a game-high seven assists.
Rutgers-Camden shot 24-for-60 from the floor (40.0 percent), while Arcadia was 26-for-51 (51.0). The Scarlet Raptors held a 36-32 edge off the boards.
Rutgers-Camden returns to action Wednesday when it hosts New Jersey Athletic Conference rival Ramapo College in an 8 p.m. game.
