CAMDEN, New Jersey (Oct. 17, 2017) – The Rutgers University-Camden women's volleyball team dropped a New Jersey Athletic Conference matchup to Kean University here tonight by a final score of 3-0.
With the loss, the Scarlet Raptors sit at 13-12 heading into the final stretch of the season. They drop to 3-4 in NJAC play, but still have earned a spot in the post-season tournament. Kean raises their record to 20-9 on the season, and 8-0 in NJAC play. They will enter the NJAC tournament as the #1 seed.
After dropping the first set 13-25, momentum shifted in the Scarlet Raptors' favor as leads of 11-6 and 12-9 were established midway through the second set. That momentum shift was led by kills from sophomore
Morgan Mulligan (New Gretna, NJ, Pinelands Regional), senior
Cortnee Wilkerson (Los Angeles, CA, West Adams Prep), and junior
Myiah Gatling (Woolwich Township, NJ, Kingsway Regional). Sophomore
Caitlynn Marcano (Williamstown, NJ, Williamstown) dished out many of her 7 assists on the night in that span. The Cougars attack bounced back and eventually took the set by a score of 25-18. Kean closed out the third set by a final score of 25-11.
Kean led in all categories on the night, including kills (39-20), aces (9-2), blocks (10-4), assists (36-20), and digs (47-37).
